If the phone really did get wet

  1. Unplug the charger straight away.
  2. Wipe the phone with a soft, dry cloth, including around the port.
  3. Shake gently, port facing down — Samsung suggests a few firm shakes to release trapped water.
  4. Dry it in a ventilated area. Samsung recommends cool air, such as a fan. Don't use a hair dryer on hot.
  5. Charge wirelessly if you need power. The wireless coil doesn't use the USB-C port, so it isn't affected by the moisture.
  6. Try the cable again after an hour or two. A thoroughly soaked port can take several hours.

If the phone is dry but the warning won't go away

False "moisture detected" warnings are common, especially on phones that are a few years old. These fixes solve most of them:

1. Check the cable, not just the phone

Moisture or corrosion on the charger's plug can trigger the warning. Try a different Samsung or quality USB-C cable.

2. Clean lint out of the port

Pocket lint compacts at the bottom of the port and holds moisture — and it's conductive enough when damp to confuse the sensor. With the phone off, use a soft dry toothbrush or a wooden toothpick very gently. Never use metal pins.

3. Restart the phone

A restart re-runs the port check. A force restart (hold Side and Volume Down) helps if the warning is stuck.

4. Charge while the phone is off

Some users find the warning doesn't appear when charging a powered-off phone. Only do this if you're confident the port is dry — the warning exists to prevent corrosion.

5. Clear the USB settings app's cache
